Virgin Wave Rodeo

Alright,

After very busy summers for Paul and I, with the help of Tina Thoden, have put together the final bits of the Virgin Wave Rodeo. As previously advertised on the whitewater website(www.kayakers.nf.ca/riversnl/Guide/Virgin%20Rodeo.html)the rodeo is this coming Sunday, September 4, 2005. It is being held at two different venues within the Canyon section of the Exploits River. The two main events are the Hydroscapes Free-For-All and the Virgin Wave Surf off.

There are a few details with which we would like to augment the information on the website:

1. Paul Rose has offered to lead a trip down the Badger Chute section of the Exploits River. This trip is scheduled to start Saturday morning; meet at Red Indian Adventures at 10:30 am. If you or your friends are interested in this trip please contact myself (river...@canada.com) or Paul (i...@redindianadventures.com).

2. Paul and Joy Rose have also invited paddlers and their friends to camp at Red Indian Adventures. This has been successful during other events and comes with several nice perks. Camping at Red Indian Adventures is $8\night\person or $15.00 for both Saturday and Sunday nights. This includes a large tarped recreation area, outhouse and wash facilities, stove and bbq, firewood and a big fire pit, and a shuttle for Badger Chute (Saturday) and the rodeo (Sunday). Plus it is a beautiful location on the banks of the Exploits River. For people who have not been here before Red Indian Adventures is located in Aspen Brook, west of Grand Falls. It is easily located by following the billboards along the TCH.

3. Registration for the Rodeo will be on Sunday morning at 10:00 am. This year, prior to the main event, we have organized a trip down the Upper Salmon Ladder section for more advanced paddlers. On our journey to the Virgin Wave we will visit several unique rapids and playspots in the upper reaches of the Exploits Canyon. We will rejoin the rest of the group at the bridge and continue downstream to the competition spots.

4. After the rodeo we are planning to convene at Pizza Delight for a pizza and re-live our glory moments on the river. This will be arranged for approximately 6:00, after the awards ceremony, and all are welcome to join us.

5. We would also like to take a moment to thank our sponsers. They are: Kayak Newfoundland and Labrador, Red Indian Adventures, Hydroscapes, Avalon Interactive Massage, NF Whitewater, Print Atlantic, and Arris Productions. Hopefully this list will be longer and if you would like to be involved in the Virgin Wave Rodeo as a sponser, please contact Paul or myself.

If you have any further questions please ask.

Sincerely, Chris Buchanan (river...@canada.com)
and
Paul Rose (i...@redindianadventures.com)
